About

Who Are We?

We're a NEW micro roastery in Launceston, Tasmania, offering coffee lovers a range of delicious new experiences.

Our passion is to find amazing beans from around the world and share them with you!

Feel free to Contact Us with any questions you might have, or call Stu on 0435 836 387.

We Care About:

  • Freshness - we buy our green beans when they're in season, and we roast frequently so that you get them fresh! We recommend buying whole beans, grinding them on-demand, and consuming them within 4 weeks of the roast date. Find out more about freshness.
  • Quality - we're simply not interested in beans that aren't fresh and delicious - no matter how much it costs us! We buy smaller amounts of beans when they are fresh from the farms to ensure that our beans are in the best condition when they make it to you.
  • Information - we believe in giving you all the information available (as you can see in the Coffee section). We aren't interesting in keeping our techniques and recipes "secret", so fire away with any question you might have!
  • Transparency - we want to give you accurate ethical information on the beans we offer. Were the farmers given a fair price? Are they using sustainable farming techniques? Wherever possible, we source beans using direct trade. More info can be found on our Ethics page.
  • Education - our commitment to giving you great coffee extends beyond handing over the beans! Our Methods provide detailed info on bean storage, grinding and how to prepare coffee using a range of methods. You are also welcome to Email Us with any further enquiries.

About Coffee Flavour:

When we first tasted FRESH coffee, our minds were opened to the reality that coffee doesn't have to taste just like coffee. Different beans can provide very different flavours, aromas and sensations. Some will have a deep flavour profile, accented towards sweet, dark chocolate, earthy spices, resinous wood, and dried fruits. Some will have bright, zesty flavours hinting at berries, citrus fruits and a floral perfume.

If you have tasted precisely none of these flavours in your coffee before, don't panic! Describing the taste of coffee is not nearly as important (or fun) as simply tasting coffees and deciding which you prefer. Everyone's palate is different. Some people prefer the subtlety of lighter-roasted Central American beans through a plunger, while others prefer the richness of a dark-roasted Ethiopian bean as it oozes out of an espresso machine. And there are myriad combinations of flavour, aroma and body to choose from - every one unique, and always changing from crop to crop.

Beans from one crop are referred to as a single origin coffee - as opposed to a blend. Single origins tend to have a smaller range of flavours, but a more distinctive character. Blends are designed to yeild a well-rounded coffee with balanced acidity and sweetness. At Zombie Coffee we offer a range of single origins and blends - and we guarantee that there will be a coffee in our range that you adore!
